Every company has a story. Ours begins with something deeply personal, something that continues to fuel our mission every single day.
Salyx was founded in 2021 by Sergio Martell and his co-founders, driven by a deeply personal mission: to bridge the gap between healthcare, seniors, and their families, especially when emergencies happen.
The inspiration behind Salyx started with a family story. In 2003, Sergio’s uncle, Alberto, was living alone in Mexico City. A fiercely independent man, he maintained close ties with his siblings and relatives. One day, however, he suffered a stroke in his apartment. Tragically, he wasn’t found until three days later by the cleaning staff. Although he survived, the delay in receiving help permanently impacted his quality of life.
Years later, with a background in technology, engineering, and product development, Sergio and his co-founders began working on a solution that could help people like his uncle—individuals living alone or in senior care environments, where emergencies can often go unnoticed. According to the National Ambulatory Care Reporting System in Canada, hundreds of thousands of such incidents occur every year.

That’s where the idea for Salyx began to take shape.
Salyx developed a small, wireless, and easy-to-use wearable ecosystem designed to continuously monitor five key vital signs:
Heart rate
Blood oxygenation
Respiration rate
Temperature
Blood pressure
For users, this means greater safety, independence, and peace of mind, not just for themselves, but also for their families and caregivers.
The Salyx system goes beyond just tracking vitals. It includes an integrated Android app, iOS app, API, and a web dashboard application, specifically built for deployment in senior care homes and for family members to stay connected. When the system detects signs of potential risk, such as lack of movement, irregular routines, or distress, it automatically sends real-time alerts to caregivers or emergency contacts, without requiring the user to press a button or even wear a bulky device.
Two non-provisional patents protect the unique technology behind Salyx:
Remote Wearable Blood Pressure Monitoring
Remote Wearable Ecosystem and Alert Algorithm
What sets Salyx apart from traditional smartwatches or standard health monitoring tools like blood pressure cuffs is its lightweight design, long battery life, cost-effectiveness, and “set-and-forget” usability. When any of the monitored vitals fall out of safe ranges, the system sends automatic alerts to trusted medical professionals and loved ones in real time.
Salyx isn't just a product, it’s a commitment to making healthcare more responsive and more human. For Sergio Martell and the team, it’s about building technology that empowers people to live more independently, while staying protected when it matters most.
Thanks for being a part of our story.
